Steven McCormack, MD
The Medical Director of the Cancer Center of Western Wisconsin is Dr. McCormack. He is based at the Cancer Center in New Richmond and oversees cancer care at all six partnering hospital locations.
Board certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology, Dr. McCormack has experience teaching students, nurses, residents and fellows. He completed his hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Minnesota and currently practices medical oncology and hematology at the Cancer Center of Western Wisconsin in New Richmond and the Regions Cancer Care Center in St. Paul, MN. He has published research in peer-reviewed journals and presented research at national conferences.
Dr. McCormack is a graduate of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine residence at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, OH. He completed his Hematology and Oncology fellowship at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN.

Glenn Applegate, MD
Dr. Applegate comes to us from Turville Bay Radiation Oncology Center in Madison, WI. He has more than 15 years of radiation oncology experience including serving as a director of oncology. Dr. Applegate has performed both brachytherapy and gynecologic brachytherapy.
Certified by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Applegate has experience treating all types of malignancies. He understands the impact of disease on entire families and approaches his patients with information and compassion.
Caring for patients is Dr. Applegate’s favorite part of being a radiation oncologist. He believes tailor-made treatment plans paired with MRO’s precision-based technology provides his patients with confidence and knowledge to experience their best possible outcome.

Jackie Nelson, MBA, CCWW Director
Ms. Nelson has served as the Senior Director of Operations for the Cancer Center of Western Wisconsin since 2013. Since joining the cancer center, she has launched several new programs for oncology patients, experienced growth which allows patients to get care close to home and continues to find opportunities to collaborate in the Western Wisconsin communities to deliver the best cancer experience possible for patients.
At the Cancer Center of Western Wisconsin, her goal is to create a patient-centered culture, where patients in Western WI will find state-of-the-art-care with providers and staff who will walk with them throughout their journey.
Ms. Nelson’s background includes director of outpatient cancer care services for HealthEast Care System, administrative roles at Augustana Health Care Center and Allina Health, and practice administrator at Minnesota Oncology & Hematology, PA in the Twin Cities.
